Religious tension in Osun, CAN orders Christian students to attend classes in church robes over Hijab controversy

There is currently religious tension in Osun state as OSCAN, the Osun State Christian Religious Association of Nigeria has given a directive that all female students should attend classes in their church garments in their different schools beginning from Monday.

This directive was issued after the realization that Muslims students now attend classes in their Hijab after the judgement passed by a judge of Osun State High Court, Justice Jide Falola last week Friday on the right of female Muslim students in public schools in the state to use hijab on their school uniforms.

It was gathered that messages have been sent to churches to make sure that the directive passed by OSCAN should be implemented.

However, while some see this as a religious crisis, some do not, the Osun State chapter of the PDP, People’s Democratic Party, a major opposing party of the incumbent ruling party APC, All Progressive Congress  see it as some sort of way to disrupt the State for Political reasons.

The party in a statement issued in Osogbo by its spokesperson, Prince Diran Odeyemi said Muslims and Christians in Osun state have coexisted long before now without crises and blamed the rising tension on Governor Aregbesola.
