30 yrs old man arrested for raping 12 yr old boy in Minna

Minna- The Childs Right Agency has arrested a 30 year old trader, Zainu Mohammed for allegedly raping a 12 year old boy in Kaswan Gwari Market in Minna, Niger state.

The victim, (name witheld) is in primary five and hawks pure water in the same market.

Narrating his ordeal to officials of the Agency, the victim said he went to the public toilet in the market not knowing that he was being trailed by Zainu.

He said as he pulled his trousers down to ease himself, the accused descended on him, covered his mouth with a clothe and forced himself to have canal knowledge of me.

“There was no way I could shout since he had forced clothe into my mouth to prevent me from shouting but I was lucky that another man that came into the toilet saw us especially as I was struggling and shoutrd thief, thief and this immediately attracted passerby and pursued him as he fled.

He was however unlucky as he was caught in the premises of U.K Bello Arts Theatre and was seriously beaten by the angered crowd who later handed him over to the Police who subsequently handed him over to the Agency,” the victim narrated.

The accused- Zainu when interrogated denied having carnal knowledge of the victim pointing out that they only met at the point where they went to toilet.

“I did not have sex with him. I went to toilet and the boy was there already. When our trousers were off, I stood and was talking to the boy and that was when they saw us and started shouting thief. I ran into U.K Bello but I was caught and severely beaten,” the accused explained.

Officials of the Child Rights Agency however said that the accused was giving a contradicting statement pointing out that the first confessional statement he made confessing to the crime is on tape.

The DG of the Agency, Barrister Mariam Kolo said that the case would be forwarded to the CID for proper investigation after which he will be prosecuted.
